In 2010, after working in human resources at The Washington Post for several years, I was ready to embark on a new professional chapter and began to search for career opportunities. A job posting at a small business piqued my interest and a phone conversation with the owner revealed an explanation of a position that was nothing like the advertisement. While the job itself did not align with my goals, the situation presented a great opportunity to provide service and leverage my recruitment skills.
The owner and I established a partnership and I designed a new recruitment model to accommodate his business – one that pivoted on intelligence and fee structure. Before my candidate search began, I invested a considerable amount of time to thoroughly understand the business and the industry. I also presented a nontraditional recruiting fee structure that was based on performance metrics. This model helped to establish trust and keep costs low for the business. The owner was thrilled and I was able to place the best candidate for the position.
It wasn’t long before I recognized a huge service gap and realized there were many other small and emerging businesses that need affordable recruitment and HR solutions. In addition, my many encounters with candidates uncovered a desire for employers that offered greater opportunities for meaningful work and pathways to leadership. With this newfound awareness, I launched Talint and have worked with a number of amazing businesses and professionals along the way. Our firm is intentionally designed to provide cross-industry recruiting services for various companies in different stages of growth.
Everyone on the Talint team shares pride for the small business community and has committed to serving this community in their daily lives. We see that small businesses make a powerful impact on all levels – from enriching the potential of an individual professional, to bringing vibrancy to local neighborhoods, to boosting our country’s economy. Their workplace environments provide better opportunities for professionals to interface with leaders, make meaningful decisions, experience autonomy and receive actionable professional development. These opportunities accelerate the development of new leaders and shape business innovation. We believe there is no better place to shine and contribute than at a small business.
At Talint, we promise to make deep cognitive investments in our business partners and candidates and demonstrate transparency, timeliness and empathy to keep trust as the pinnacle of our reputation. It is our privilege to serve small businesses and the dedicated professionals who are shaping success for this sector.
